SSOTD: Children battling cancer and their families celebrate thanksgiving

Over the weekend, the Zo's BraveHearts Foundation hosted an early Thanksgiving meal for children diagnosed with cancer and their families.

The event brought dozens of people together, including one of the foundation's own members.

Zo's BraveHearts Foundation helps families of children battling cancer, assisting with logistical and emotional needs such as cleaning the house or decorating for the holidays, allowing families to focus on the health of their child.

The organization was founded by Rino Armeni, in honor of her grandchild Lorenzo, who was just 3 years old when he was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2020.

After nearly two years of long hospital stays, intense chemotherapy and countless blood transfusions, Lorenzo rang the bell in August 2022, officially completing treatment.

"I saw the hardships my daughter and son-in-law had to endure. Simple tasks such as house cleaning, caring for siblings, grocery shopping, car maintenance became major challenges, and we saw a need for extra help," shares Armeni on the foundation's website. "That's why we created Zo's Bravehearts Foundation to restore balance and harmony to families facing childhood cancer."
