The Las Vegas Clark County Library District is inviting the community members to their "Discover the World" program throughout the summer running from May 15th through July 31st.
The event will offer a variety of reading and activity programs for kids, teens, and adults who will be eligible to win prizes from local community partners like the Vegas Golden Knights, Las Vegas Raiders, and The Smiths Center.
Kelvin Watson, the Executive Director of the Library District explains, "As summer approaches, parents and caregivers are looking for fun, meaningful ways to keep his kids engaged and learning. That's why Summer Challenge is our biggest event of the year, to motivate with great prizes and show them that learning can be fun." Watson further explains the importance of keeping children engaged and learning during summer break to prevent the "summer slide" which is where teens and children lose important academic skills.
This year's theme is 'Discover the World,' which will invite children, teens, of all ages to explore innovative ideas about new cultures, ideas, and experiences all through their local libraries! Activities will range from arts and crafts to different technology experiences, as well as language classes. Watson emphasizes how interactive this event is for babies, where parents can read, sing songs, or talk about everyday lifestyle activities like grocery shopping. This event is also for the adults, where they can engage in activities like reading, comic books, poetry, learning a new language, using a 3D Printer, creating music, and much more!
Interested community members can sign up early NOW from May 1-14 and will also be entered into a contest for your chance to win a family 4-pack of NBA tickets to the NBA 2K Summer League OR 2 tickets to see Hamilton at The Smiths Center!
The Las Vegas Clark County Library District has partnered with several community organizations to provide prizes to participants. Organizations including Freed's Bakery, Handel's Homemade Ice Cream, Raising Canes, and many more!
