The Nevada SPCA and local father teamed up to honor his daughter's memory.
Shyayn Bass loved cats. In 2023, she wrote, "Lex's Halloween," a children's book aimed at changing the negative perceptions of black cats.
Sadly, on December 2nd, 2023 Shyayn was struck by a drunk driver and later passed away from her injuries.
Her father, Dwight Bass, found a Christmas card in Shyayn's car after the crash that she had written to the Nevada SPCA with a photo of her and her two cats she adopted from their shelter.
Dwight Bass then came up with the idea to team up with the organization. Bass said, "I remember Shyayn calling me for help when one of her cats needed a dental procedure that cost $2700. Now we can help other cat owners get their pets the help they need in honor of my daughter."
"Lex's Halloween," is available at the Nevada SPCA for a $15 donation to the Shyayn Bass Memorial Fund. The proceeds go towards cat owners to get the help they need.
