Peggy’s Attic, a Clark County Department of Family Services Donation Center, is allowing foster parents to shop for free. The donation center in the Las Vegas Valley is supporting foster families as they are bringing children into their homes, by keeping their shelves stocked. Foster parent Katie Kirkorian fosters a dozen children, with three currently in her care. Kirkirian explained that without Peggy’s Attic, they would have a hard time keeping up. She further explains that when she picks up the child from the hospital, all they have is a little shirt and a diaper, and that’s it; therefore, Peggy’s attic has been a huge help. Foster parents are able to get their foster child a variety of clothes, toys, new shoes, and other accessories. Clark County officials explained that, due to services like Peggy’s Attic, 2023 was the first year that they had an increased number of foster parents, although there are still hundreds of homes that are still needed. The community plays a vital role in keeping these shelves stocked at Peggy’s Attic with diapers, baby toys, and wipes. 45% of the children in their care are below the age of five.
