SSOTD: 58 Year Old Grandmother Breaks World Record for Longest Plank Hold

DonnaJean Wilde, age 58, is not just your average grandmother. Wilde recently broke the world record for the longest time holding the plank position for a woman. She held the plank position for 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds. Wilde’s plank was ten minutes longer than the previous record holder, Dana Glowacka, back in 2019. Wilde told Guinness World Records that she was very nervous about losing her form, and her elbows hurt pretty bad. But she was highly motivated by her 12 grandchildren, who came along to watch and support her. In order to prepare for this record attempt, Wilde would plank up to three hours a day and even up it to six hours. Over a decade ago, she started incorporating planks into her daily routine because of an injury that prevented her from running or lifting weights while wearing a cast. Wilde loves how she can read and do other things while she is planking. Wilde studied for her master’s degree while holding her plank position, according to the Guiness World Record. As for the men, Josef Salek currently holds the record for the longest plank at 9 hours, 38 minutes, and 47 seconds. DonnaJean Wilde’s amazing achievement shows that age does not prevent you from reaching your goals.
