Two officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Oscar Murguia and Humberto Zarate were honored by the LVMPD Foundation recently for leading a community team that put an end to gang violence. Murguia and Zarate received Good Ticket awards at a special ceremony at Resorts World on Wednesday. The Good Ticket program recognizes officers that make positive impacts to the community.

In a Spring Valley area neighborhood, Oscar Murguia and Humberto Zarate discovered that a gang was targeting a juvenile. The two officers lead the LVMPD Spring Valley Area Command’s Safe Village Team. Quickly within 48 hours of the report, Murgia and Zarate relocated the juvenile's family to safe housing. Thanks to the officers' rapid response, they helped prevent potential gang violence in the area.
