The Sphere launched a new contest called the Sphere XO Student Design Challenge. This summer, students will get the chance to see their artwork on the Sphere. The design challenge is in collaboration with the Clark County School District, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Sphere XO Student Design Challenge begins this month with a Fourth of July theme.

CCSD students from fourth to eighth grade are invited to participate. The district administrators will select 294 students to represent the district. Then, the best 60 admissions chosen by administrators will go into final judging and voting.

60 students from CCSD high schools and UNLV will be selected to participate based on their "demonstrated passion for art and digital design." The selected students will be given a VR headset and other tools to help them create their artwork. Additionally, Sphere designers will give them hands-on training on how to create art specifically for display on the Sphere.

The final eight winners are chosen in combination between public voting on the Sphere website and a panel of professional artists for the Sphere. The winning artwork will display on the Fourth of July.

Additionally, high school and UNLV winners will receive $10,000 education scholarship from the Sphere. Winning elementary and middle school students will receive a $10,000 donation to their schools art program and tickets for their entire school to attend The Sphere Experience.
