There are many concerns from Superintendent Mike Gauthier and other officials about the amount of trash on beaches and trails at Lake Mead. Guests have stepped on broken glasses, and there have also been bins that are overflowing, which are extremely vulnerable to wildlife. Therefore, Lake Mead officials are calling for volunteers to help clean the trails and beaches of all the trash. Not only that, but due to the historic lows of Lake Mead's water levels, abandoned boats have resurfaced, which has received negative feedback from businesses and tourists. Gauthier really just wants to make the park is clean and looks good for future generations. The trash and resurfaced boats make the park look very unappealing. Therefore, it is vital to have volunteers to help clean and pick up the trash and get rid of the abandoned boats at the park. Not only that, but to have volunteers to help maintain the cleanliness if water levels were to drop again in the future.
