It's an extra special birthday this year for one local woman.
On Wednesday, Gladys Stroud celebrated her 106th birthday!
The team at OptumCare Palliative Care helped celebrate by bringing Gladys a chocolate birthday cake. Gladys has fortunately been able to maintain her independence and still live at home, thanks to assistance from the palliative care team. She enjoys playing games that keep her mind sharp, her favorite being mahjong.
"As you grow older, different things become more important to you," Gladys says. "Now, what's important to me is knowing that tomorrow is coming, but it's coming tomorrow. So I live for the day and go with the flow."
