The upcoming holiday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 17th will be one of the many days this year that all national parks will waive their entrance fee.
Las Vegas' closest national park, Death Valley, encourages the community to take advantage of this offer. Death Valley Superintendent James Woolsey says, "January is a great month to visit Death Valley. The low-angle winter sunlight makes the contours of the sand dunes and mountains more photogenic."
