Portion of Las Vegas street renamed for late police lieutenant

"A portion of a street in the northwest Las Vegas valley has been renamed for a police lieutenant who died last year.

The Las Vegas City Council on Wednesday voted to rename a stretch of Tee Pee Lane for the late Erik Lloyd.

Erik Lloyd Street will run from Iron Mountain Road to Brent Lane, adjacent to Bilbray and Scherkenback elementary schools and just west of Alyn Beck Memorial Park.

A street sign was presented to Lloyd's widow, Minddie, during Wednesday's city council meeting. Several police officers were also in attendance for the honor.

Lloyd died in July due to complications from COVID-19. He oversaw the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Force Investigation Team and was the president of the Injured Officers Police Fund.

LVMPD said his passing would be considered a line-of-duty death. His name was added to the Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial in Carson City last month."(KSNV)
