On Saturday, May 29, Good Flights, a program of Greater Good Charities, and iHeartCats.com will fly more than 95 rescue cats from Las Vegas to new adoptive homes in Bellingham, Wash., that would otherwise not be available to them.
The cats were rescued by Hearts Alive Village in Las Vegas and will be received by Embrace a Discarded Animal Society in Bellingham, Wash. The pets on the flight are all fully vetted and health certificated. While at the Embrace a Discarded Animal Society, all of the cats flown will be evaluated and receive any follow-up medical care needed before being put up for adoption. It's expected that all cats and kittens will find new loving homes quickly.
Greater Good Charities’ Good Flights supported by IHeartCats.com are urgently needed to make space at Hearts Alive Village for cats and kittens that are at risk in the Las Vegas community. No local shelter pets are displaced by the flight.
Many of these cats have been surrendered to Hearts Alive Village as a result of one of the worst financial and housing crises in Las Vegas’ history. The organization is working tirelessly to keep families together and pets out of the shelter through community support programs such as a pet food bank and affordable veterinary care.
Good Flights, a program of Greater Good Charities, conducts life-saving airlifts and supports ground transport for at-risk pet populations with a heavy focus on homeless cats, asymptomatic heartworm positive shelter dogs, disaster relief, and bully breeds. Good Flights has a holistic approach that does more than simply transport at-risk pets. The program focuses on pet populations in crisis that are historically underserved, due to lack of resources and opportunity, while simultaneously empowering the communities they serve by furnishing them with tools and program support.
