'Meals on Wheels' works to get vaccine delivered to senior citizens

"Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada says they’re not going to sit back and watch senior citizens miss the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, so they're using their Meals on Wheels program to help get them vaccinated right from the comfort of their homes.

"We know that the seniors we’re serving often have mobility and health issues, so being able to vaccinate them in the home is a much more efficient way, keeps them safe and gives them the support they need," said Deacon Tom Roberts, President and CEO of Catholic Charities.

He says they’ve collaborated with the Governor's Office, the Southern Nevada Health District and the Clark County Fire Department to make sure senior citizens stuck at home can get vaccinated. This week they started including flyers in their deliveries letting people know that they can sign up for this new initiative.

Meals on wheels depends on volunteers and donations from community members to keep the program up and running. To learn more, visit their website." (KSNV)
