Q: If you were talking to yourself on the first day you started your career, what would be the piece of advice you would give yourself on that first day?

A: Your career path will twist and turn with each step forward. Lean into your mentors, keep developing your skills, make data-driven decisions, be daring enough to fail, and confident in your asks.

Q: What is a quote or saying you live by, and why?

A: “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”-Fred Rogers I grew up a firefighter/paramedic’s daughter. From going into burning buildings, delivering babies in the ambulance, and saving countless lives, my dad was an everyday helper and hero. His humble commitment to our community made a lasting impact deep inside my soul. And while I am not brave enough to serve in the same capacity as my dad, I have dedicated my career as a public servant to strengthening communities and improving critical services for children and families.

Q: How do you “shine” in your career/field in a unique market like Las Vegas?

A: As the Public Information Coordinator for Clark County Family Services foster care, it’s not about how I shine, it’s about the kids. I coordinate media and marketing efforts and events to recruit and retain foster caregivers. With every decision I make, I ask myself, does this help the babies, children, and teens in foster care? The goal is for every child to have a safe home and that every caregiver feels supported. My team cannot do this work alone. Cultivating community partnerships is critical, and I am grateful for our incredible network of supporters and foster caregivers across Las Vegas and Clark County.
