Ketan Thanki, MD MMS is a dual-board-certified Colorectal and General Surgeon and the faculty colorectal surgeon for the Valley Health System General Surgery Residency Program. He received his undergraduate degree from Vassar College and finished medical school magna cum laude at St. George’s University. Dr. Thanki completed his general surgical training at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and colorectal surgery fellowship at MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Thanki completed an NIH-funded T32 research fellowship at the University of Texas where he also obtained a Masters of Medical Science degree.
Dr. Thanki specializes in the treatment of anorectal and pelvic floor disorders, colon and rectal cancer, anal cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, fecal incontinence and chronic constipation. Dr. Thanki has advanced training in state-of-the-art, minimally invasive laparoscopic/robotic and trans-anal techniques for colon and rectal surgery. He has a special interest in improving access to care for underserved and LGBTQ+ populations in the Las Vegas Valley and beyond in rural Nevada.
Dr. Thanki has presented his award-winning research at numerous national meetings and authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the Association for Out Surgeons and Allies and the American College of Surgeons.
