SSOTD: Candy Cane House Opens in Henderson to Benefit People in Need

A couple in Henderson have transformed their home into a candy cane wonderland.

Victor Cardenas and his husband, Joey Cardona are opening their home to the public, as they showcase their Candy Cane House for the holiday season.

The Candy Cane House started four years ago, when Joey was diagnosed with cancer, and told his time was limited. The couple wanted to have the best Christmas, as they didn't know if it would be their last together. Four years later, Joey is still here and the Candy Cane House has grown more each year.

Featuring 80 decorated Christmas trees and 60,000 lights, there will also be complimentary hot chocolate and other sweet treats.

Admission is free, although guests are encouraged to make a donation to benefit HopeLink of Southern Nevada, which provides help to those living below the poverty line. Last year, the Candy Cane House raised $425 in cash, and donated 10 bins of hygiene products.

The Candy Cane House will be open every weekend throughout the month, and is located at 366 S Milan St in Henderson.
