A new study has revealed that there is a big association between gardening frequently and improvements in wellbeing, stress, and physical activity.
The study was done by Britain's Royal Horticulture Society and surveyed more than 6,000 people. The results indicated that those who garden every day have a higher wellbeing score than those that don't garden at all.
“In fact gardening every day has the same positive impact on wellbeing than undertaking regular, vigorous exercise like cycling or running. When gardening, our brains are pleasantly distracted by nature around us. This shifts our focus away from ourselves and our stresses, thereby restoring our minds and reducing negative feelings.” said the lead author Dr. Lauriane Chalmin-Pui.
