SSOTD: City of Las Vegas Installs 22 Cameras Downtown

The City of Las Vegas is adding more tools in an effort to combat crime and keep people safe.

Last week, city officials announced they have installed 22 cameras in 11 locations near downtown Las Vegas.

The cameras will read license plates to look for stolen or wanted vehicles.

City officials noted the cameras will not be used to look for people who speed or run red lights.

According to officials, this technology "has shown to be effective in recovering stolen vehicles, identifying wanted suspects and acts as a deterrent."
