The two New York Yankees fans involved in a controversial interference incident during Game 4 of the World Series have been banned for Game 5, the New York Post reports.

Austin Capobianco, a season-ticket holder, was identified as the fan wearing a road gray Yankees jersey who grabbed the baseball out of Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts' glove after he made a catch at the wall during the Yankees' eventual 11-4 win. John Peter was identified as the other fan who grabbed Betts' throwing hand while Capobianco grabbed the ball from his left-handed glove.

Both fans will have their ticket prices refunded for Game 5, which will be the Yankees' last game at their home stadium this year regardless of the outcome of the World Series, though it's unclear whether the two fans will be banned beyond Game 5.

The Yankees complied with Major League Baseball's decision to ban the two fans from Game 5.

“Last night two fans were ejected from Yankee Stadium for egregious and unacceptable physical contact with Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts,” the Yankees said in a statement obtained by the New York Post Wednesday (October 30) afternoon. “The safety and security of players, fans and Stadium staff is the foundational element of every event held at Yankee Stadium, and it cannot be compromised.

“Tonight marks the final home game of year, and we want every ounce of our fans’ passion on display. Yankee Stadium is known for its energy and intensity, however the exuberance of supporting one’s team can never cross the line into intentionally putting players at physical risk.

“The Yankees and Major League Baseball maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward the type of behavior displayed last night. These fans will not be permitted to attend tonight’s game in any capacity.”

The Yankees look to bounce back from a 3-1 deficit in Game 5 Wednesday night. Gerrit Cole will start for New York against Dodgers right-hander Jack Flaherty in a rematch of Game 1.
