Mariah Carey may be best known for her powerful vocals, impressive whistle notes and iconic songs as well as being the Queen of Christmas, but some fans would be surprised to know that she has another secret project she has yet to release that has a grungier edge.

The "We Belong Together" singer recently stopped by the Las Culturistas podcast hosted by Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang and comedian Matt Rogers for a lengthy chat when Rogers asked her, "Can you drop that grunge album?" referencing the edgier "lost" project from 1995 that she recorded while making her hit album Daydream, per People.

"I know right?" she said. "I'm so mad that I haven't done that yet ... but who do I drop it with?"

As Yang and Rogers suggested dropping the album on Garage Band or another "grungy thing," Carey noted that was a good idea, "I could do that. It's a good album."

This isn't the first time Carey has talked about her long-lost project. After revealing the existence of the album in her 2020 memoir The Meaning of Mariah, she said in 2022 that she had found the project that featured her lead vocals and planned to release it.

Elsewhere in the Las Culturistas interview, Carey shared which three artists have influenced her music the most.
