SSOTD: US Coast Guard Rescues Dog Trapped Inside Shipping Container

Earlier this month, a dog was rescued after being trapped inside a Texas shipping container.

The US Coast Guard was conducting inspections when they heard barking and scratches coming from one of the containers. As soon as they opened the container, they were greeted by a little dog's face.

"She was right there, like she knew we were going to be there to open it for her," shares Officer Ryan McMahon. "And she just, she wasn't scared or anything. She seemed happy more than anything to be out of that dark space and in the arms of people that were going to take care of her."

The pooch, nicknamed Connie the container dog, was taken to Forever Changed Animal Rescue in Maryland.

Last Wednesday, the rescue posted to Facebook an update on Connie. She received bloodwork, x-rays and an ultrasound, where they discovered that Connie is pregnant!

According to the Facebook post, the puppies have strong heartbeats and look healthy overall. Connie will stay with the vet throughout her pregnancy, and hopefully find her forever home soon after.
