Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2022 is ramping up the celebration for its 50th-anniversary show.

On Thursday (October 7), it was announced that the annual celebration will expand to Puerto Rico, making it the first-ever destination outside of the mainland United States to be featured on the end-of-year ABC special. The segment will be broadcast from the island’s newly-opened DISTRITO T-Mobile and occur an hour ahead of the countdown in New York City because Puerto Rico does not observe daylight saving time. In addition to it being the 50th-anniversary show, the celebration will also mark the 500th anniversary of Puerto Rico’s capital city of San Juan.

“As we expand the footprint of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, we’re proud to broadcast from Puerto Rico as we showcase the vibrant multicultural destination to commemorate this milestone year for the iconic New Year’s celebration,” MRC Live and Alternative president Adam Stotsky said in a statement.

“This celebration not only allows Puerto Ricans to enjoy this great historic event; it also speaks to diverse communities around the world that our Island is ready to receive tourism and foster economic development,” Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi said. "New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will be a testament to all that Puerto Rico has to offer.”
