PopSugar’s ‘Not Over It’ Podcast Delivers The Celebrity Gossip Goods

Becky Kirsch and Zareen Siddiqui host PopSugar’s Not Over It, a podcast dedicated to breaking down the celebrity and entertainment news of the week with a down-to-earth wit and quality banter. Becky wants to know why George R. R. Martin didn’t use the quarantine period to finally finish the Game of Thrones book series, but Zareen wonders if his ending matched the television series, and now he’s afraid to write it because he knows everyone hated it. Zareen saw the Framing Britney documentary and doesn’t feel the same way about Justin Timberlake anymore. They both rewatched some beloved, gone-too-soon series that are worth revisiting. Plus, the eye-rolling ‘Imagine’ video from Gal Gadot, Stanley Tucci’s charming cocktail class, and Seth Rogen’s pottery are all “living rent-free in our minds,” and Zareen wonders how Tom Hanks managed to produce both Colin and Chet Hanks when revisiting Chet’s inadvisable Jamaican accent during a 2020 awards show.

Becky rewatched The O.C. during the lockdown, saying it “holds up….but then I ruined it by watching Promising Young Woman right after it, where Adam Brody is definitely not Seth Cohen,” she says. Becky is mad at Zareen for watching all but the final six episodes of Mr. Robot, saying, “You’re trying to hurt me.” Zareen isn’t over Pan Am – ”Don’t laugh!” she tells Becky – and jokes that only she and Martin Scorsese watched it, because he cast Margot Robbie in Wolf of Wall Street soon after the show premiered. “This is an interesting fan fiction you’ve created for yourself,” Becky observes, and Zareen quips, “It definitely helps me sleep at night.” They both agree that not enough people watched The Leftovers, even though they understand it’s a tough one to get through; but if it helps, “Justin Theroux has never looked better.”

Then there were the celebrity relationships that went sour in 2020: Ben Affleck’s daily walks to Dunkin’ Donuts with girlfriend Ana de Armas were a quarantine highlight, but he goes solo now. There are several photos of him taking a cardboard cutout of her out to the trash, probably because “they were definitely more interesting than Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello out with their dogs looking like The Walking Dead.” Becky predicts that one day there will be a Fyre Festival-style documentary about the making of Gal Gadot’s ‘Imagine’ video. Plus, all the new music from Megan Thee Stallion, Kid Cudi, and Taylor Swift – “but not Drake,” Zareen says pointedly. “I can’t believe we have Drake from State Farm, but not Drake from Certified Lover Boy.” If it’s celeb news you want, Not Over It delivers.
