Hey it’s Joanna and if you know one thing about me, you know I LOVE ANIMALS. All animals, but specifically dogs. My obsession with having a dog came as an adult because I didn’t grow up in a household with dogs when I was younger. When I moved to Las Vegas, I really had my first chance at finally becoming a dog mom, something I am super proud of being. Within the past ten years of being a Las Vegas resident I have become a dog mom to five. Dougie (Pomeranian) and Zelda (Boxer) came first, then Frankie (Pomeranian) followed by Xena (Terrier Mix) and my most recent dog from the NSPCA, a Frug named Bumblebee (half Frenchie/half Pug). I love my fur babies and would do anything for them.
Being able to adopt an animal and give them a good life is a gift I wish every person would be able to experience. When you adopt an animal you aren’t just potentially saving that animals life… you are doing SO MUCH MORE. One of the most important reasons for me to adopt verses shop is that you take a step in the fight against puppy mills and unethical breeding. Most dogs from puppy mills spend their time cramped in cages and in poor conditions when the lights turn out, so taking the step to adopt takes a step towards shutting down puppy mills. Plus, I am very much against the sale of animals on sites like Craig’s List because you truly can’t determine who is buying your animal on the other side. Another amazing benefit of adopting an animal through an organization like the NSPCA is not only do they do whatever they can to make sure that animal is getting into a good home but you truly gain a lifetime of having a friend whose sole purpose is to bring you joy and love. And what is truly better than that?
I am so excited to be partnering up with the NSPCA this year to bring you Sunny 106.5’s Pet of the Week. The NSPCA stands for Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and their mission is to save homeless pets right here in Clark County. The NSPCA provides shelter, care, and finds loving new homes for dogs, cats, rabbits and other small animals. I have personally worked with the NSPCA for almost four years now and am so proud of the direction they are headed in our community and want to support their efforts of making homeless pets' lives a little better by finding them great homes. If you are just as passionate about helping animals get adopted in our community,
I encourage you to come back to this page often and to share with your friends, family and on social media the animals we feature here.
The faster we can find these beautiful animals a home, the more good the NSPCA can turn around and do for other animals. Something as small as sharing to your social media our weekly featured pet could lead to the adoption of that animal. Plus it doesn’t cost you anything to share our weekly featured pet on social media – bonus!
Thank you for reading and supporting Sunny 106.5’s Pet of the Week program and HAPPY ADOPTING! 😊
