SSOTD: Harry Reid Airport to begin offering ASL assistance program

The Harry Reid International Airport has introduced a new program offering American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services for hearing impaired travelers.

The airport has teamed up with the Aira ASL app to provide live and on-demand ASL services, connecting hearing impaired travelers with certified ASL interpreters to assist in navigating the airport.

The app is free to use, and is also offered at Henderson Executive Airport and North Las Vegas Airport.

The timing of the launch coincides with the upcoming DeafNation Expo on July 22-24, where thousands of hearing impaired travelers are expected to visit.

"Harry Reid International Airport is committed to ensuring every traveler feels welcome and supported throughout their journey," shares Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County Director of Aviation.

Vassiliadis added, "The Aira ASL app broadens the resources we offer to passengers and complements our current suite of tools like the Aira Explorer app, helping travelers who are blind or have very little vision, and the MagnusCards app, which helps guide travelers with cognitive disabilities through airport procedures."
