A family in Pennsylvania decided to help an 81-year-old woman after she explained she was not financially stable enough to retire.
Lifestyle influencer Tamie Konzier called her fans to action after noticing that their older waitress, Betty could not walk very well. While eating with her son, Tamie overhead Betty explaining to customers that the long hours on her feet are necessary to cover the bills and expenses that her government monthly benefits do not cover.
Tamie decided to not wait any longer and brought her phone out to record a TikTok explaining, "She only makes $910 a month on Social Security, and she has to still work because her bills exceed $910 a month. Any proceeds I get from this video in the TikTok Creator Rewards Program, I will come back and give to her." Tamie Konzier has over 123,000 followers on TikTok and still wanted to do more for Betty.

After her service, Tamie Konzier decided to give Betty a $40 cash tip after their meal where Betty then says, "I worked all my life as a waitress and still can't retire." She then joked about how she "can still outdo these whipper snappers!"
After many community members wanted to pitch in, Tamie decided to create a GoFundMe for Betty with a $25,000 goal! After 3 days, and over 13,000 people donating, Tamie was able to collect $300,000 for Betty to enjoy her retirement!
Betty explained after receiving the money, she plans to cut down her hours and still work as a waitress to keep her moving!
Thanks to thousands of strangers and an observant family, they were able to give Betty a lifestyle that may have not been possible before! A message that has stuck out to Betty from her supporters is, "Humanity just banded together and retired her."
