Opportunity Village has worked with Clark County School District through its Job Discovery Program ensuring that the transition from high school to the workforce is more accessible for students that have disabilities.

The program is available to students 18-22 years old and offers work opportunities at their community partner sites like the Mob Museum, Crocs, and Heritage Senior Center.

Students that experience the Job Discovery Program gain social and job skills through the various work scenarios and are guided by a job coach through the whole process. Opportunity Village assists students with the job process after they are deemed ready for the workforce and are provided support for their on-going career success!

Bob Brown, the CEO of Opportunity Village, explains that the Job Discovery Program, "is at the core of what we do at Opportunity Village. Helping young adults learn what it takes to be successful in the workforce are crucial skills that they learn while participating in the program."

The program serves 50-100 students each year across their 11 community training sites. During the 2023-2024 academic year, 11 students secured competitive opportunities of employment in these community-based jobs!

On May 23, Opportunity Village plans to host a celebration for students who have passed through the program and found employment! This will conclude their overall participation in the Job Discovery Program!
