SSOTD: Las Vegas Organization Helps Those Affected by LA Wildfires

As wildfires have impacted communities and displaced residents in Southern California, a Las Vegas organization is making an effort to help those in need of essential resources.

Jewish Nevada has opened an emergency fund to assist individuals and families who have evacuated to Las Vegas amidst the devastating wildfires, providing financial assistance, food, clothing, baby supplies and housing.

"There are a number of folks in our community who have been very generous, who have been putting up their houses, rental houses, apartments for the families who are evacuating," said Andrew Spivak, Director of Donor Engagement at Jewish Nevada.

The organization has helped a few dozen families so far.

"It's been a mix of folks who families are planning on going back right away, as soon as they can, but we've also seen a lot of families who are making the decision to stay long term," said Spivak. "These families are coming, they're coming very quickly, and literally with just the clothes on their back in some cases."
