Back to school is around the corner, and the Nevada Department of Education has partnered up with DonorsChoose to help provide teachers with classroom supplies.
The DonorsChoose Grant Program will give Nevada public school educators up to $500 in funding for resources such as school supplies and technology. The grant program was made possible by Senate Bill 339, which dedicates $10 million to Nevada classrooms.
"After spending 30 years as a Clark County educator, I know how often teachers and support staff come out of pocket for classroom supplies," said Senator Marilyn Dondero-Loop, who sponsored Senate Bill 339. "While there is still more work to be done, this initiative will help educators keep more money in their pockets, while ensuring our classrooms have the resources they need for children to learn."
To qualify for the grant, participants who create a project on DonorsChoose must teach K-12 in a Nevada public school and the project's total goal must be under $1,000. A full list of requirements can be found here.
