A local high school teacher who overcame a chronic kidney disease threw the first pitch at a UNLV baseball game Tuesday night.

Tanisha Ellerbe, a robotics and cyber security teacher at Liberty High School, had a successful kidney transplant surgery last August. Her surgery was made possible thanks to a living donor from Utah.

Intermountain Health was also at the game to celebrate National Donate Life Month and to spread awareness on the importance of organ donation.

Ellerbe said, "I feel so much better. My energy level is back up. I'm just happy. I'm healthy. My labs look great. All green, and you really can't ask for anything more."
