GrubHub Delivery Turns into a Match Meant to be

Alan Moncayo, who is a single father, Navy veteran making deliveries for Grubhub between jobs. Alan had brought his 5-year-old Sabrina along the journey making his drop-off at Fairfax County Animal Shelter in Lorton, Va. As the duo approached the shelter, Alan could not help but notice one of the sweet residents through the window.

Upon making his delivery, Alan had asked the staff if he could meet this sweet pup, named Jihoo, he viewed through the window. Not only was he informed he could do so, he learned the shelter was having a promotion during the super bowl weekend. The shelter was holding an “Adoption Bowl” event, the shelter would waive the adoption fees for dogs that were 45 pounds or bigger. Additionally, he learned that Jihoo, a 6-year-old 65-pound pit bull mix was one of the shelter's longest residents, residing with them for 240 days.

Jihoo’s introduction to the duo was like a match made in heaven! Jihoo instantly got along with Alan’s daughter, playing with her and remaining sensitive, gentle and obedient. Alan fell in love with him for a variety of reasons; Jihoo had an uncanny resemblance to his companion from nearly 30 years ago, his story of being surrounded not because he wasn't loved but due to the fact that his previous owners could no longer care for him.

Alan and his daughter decided right then and there that Jihoo was meant to be apart of their family. In addition to leaving with Jihoo, the shelter had set Alan and his daughter up for success providing crate, food, toys and a leash. Alan, his daughter and Jihoo have been enjoying company sharing laughs, belly rubs and cuddles. This family went to make a delivery and ended up leaving with their own treasure!
