A Las Vegas police officer was recently recognized for his display of compassion while helping a car crash victim.
Back in March, Officer Anthony Manginelli responded to a serious crash near Grand Teton and Durango. Arriving on scene, he spotted a woman panicking inside a damaged vehicle, as she was experiencing vision loss and was scared.
Officer Manginelli stayed with her while first responders worked to get her out of the vehicle, even speaking with her mom on the phone to assure everything was okay. The officer also took the time to visit her at the hospital, providing her support and recovery resources.
Because of Officer Manginelli's emotional support, he was recognized and honored earlier this week. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation presented Officer Manginelli with the 'Good Ticket' award, which recognizes officer who show extreme kindness and empathy.
The woman wrote to Officer Manginelli, "I can't commend him enough. He was amazing. He handled the situation with the utmost care and compassion. I always mention how he treated me in such a scary moment of my life. A million thanks to him!"
According to the LVMPD, the officer is also being rewarded with a Resorts World Las Vegas staycation package.
