41st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade Held in Downtown Las Vegas

Las Vegas is celebrating the life and legacy of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The 41st annual MLK Day Parade will be hosted in Downtown Las Vegas on Monday, January 16th. The theme of this years parade is 'Living The Dream: It Starts With Me (Shifting Priorities to Create a Beloved Community.'

The annual event is one of the largest in Las Vegas, and includes over 100 organizations throughout Southern Nevada, such as dance teams, school marching bands, and other youth groups. Local elected officials will be in attendance as well. Grand marshals for the parade include president of the Las Vegas Raiders, Sandra Douglass Morgan, and president of the Las Vegas Aces, Nikki Fargas.

For the first time in its history, the parade will be televised. General manager of KTNV, Jeff Kiernan says the parade "not only honors the legacy of Dr. King, it unites communities throughout the valley."

The 41st annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade will begin at 10am on the cross streets of 4th and Gass, and will continue through Ogden Ave.
