Libraries across Las Vegas serve 600 meals a month with Three Square for children facing food insecurity.
Every afternoon, children in Las Vegas are able to spend their time and relax in libraries through a program known as the Kids Cafe. Jennifer Bell, West Las Vegas Library Youth Services Department Head explains, "Five days a week, Monday through Friday after school, kids are able to come in and get a shelf-stable meal. All they have to do is sign in with their name. It is completely free. you just show up and we feed them." She further explains that she serves 600 meals a month through Kids Cafe, which ensures children are able to have a nutritious snack.
Children facing food insecurity may have greater effects in the future such as cognitive development, focus, etc. Kids aged 3 to 18 can eat at the Kids Cafe. There are 10 libraries across Las Vegas that offer the Kids Cafe program!
