Wynn Resorts Hires Squadron Of Hawks To Patrol Sky Above Pool

Harris Hawk

Its common knowledge that bird's of prey, like hawks, hunt from above. So smaller creatures like rabbits and smaller birds tend to clear the area when they see a raptor circling above.

As it turns out The Wynn has been having a problem with nuisance birds harassing guest and stealing their food.

Which led to the resort hiring the Airborne Wildlife Control Service and their 3 hawks to take care of the problem.

The raptors are released one at a time, and soar high above the pool perimeter. No smaller birds dare enter the area below.

"They recognize a predator when they see one. They don't necessarily know they're not being hunted, but they don't want to risk it," said Falconer Hannah Crowley.

The hawks are trained, not to attack other birds, just to fly above a specific area, which means no animals are harmed.
