The Raiders Foundation will host their Second Annual “Celebrity Swing,” signature fundraising event on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 pm at Topgolf Las Vegas. Guests at the event will join Raiders Alumni, Raiderettes and other Raiders personalities for an evening featuring golf, food and beverages.
All proceeds from the event benefit Communities In Schools (CIS) of Southern Nevada, one of the largest state operations within the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, proven to keep students in school and on the path to graduation. CIS serves over 67,000 students and their families to critical educational and community-based resources while operating in 63 Nevada school sites.
In 2018, the Raiders adopted the CIS Resource Room at Robert L. Taylor Elementary School, providing sports/playground equipment, backpacks, school supplies, emergency food and hygiene kits, clothing, shoes, alarm clocks and other items. The Raiders returned to their Resource Room during 2019 Nevada Reading Week to present Roaring Reader Awards to students for their literacy achievements, host readings and conduct a Q&A with classes with the highest participation in the school’s Apple Core Reading Program.
Last year, the Raiders Foundation – the charitable arm of the Raiders committed to increasing community and civic health through military support and youth development – presented Veterans Village with six-figure proceeds from the inaugural “Celebrity Swing.” The donation was used to purchase container homes for six veterans who have completed the Veterans Village career and life planning counseling program.
