Paint With a Ranger at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

  • On this ranger-guided program, participants will go for a walk, find a quiet spot and paint a memory on paper. Park staff will offer basic painting instruction and provide watercolor supplies.


Free Water Smart Class: Drip Irrigation at Springs Preserve

  • 9:00am-12:00pm

  • This class, taught by expert staff from the Southern Nevada Water Authority, equips you with the skills to design and install a drip-irrigation system. Learn the complete installation from the street to the plants, including how to select and assemble components. Build a drip-system model right in the classroom and learn how easy it is to save water and have great-looking plants!


Make Your Own Dream Catcher at Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort

  • 9:00am-3:00pm
  • $3 museum entry, children 12 and under FREE

  • Learn how to keep bad dreams away by making your own dream catcher. Supplies will be provided by the fort. 


Cox Back-To-School Fair at Galleria at Sunset

  • Cox Back-to-School Fair kicks off at Galleria on August 11 being the one-stop source for parents and students getting ready to go back to school. We will have Clark County on site for bus route information, school year registration, lunch programs, immunizations and over 30 community booths with information on the upcoming school year.

Summer Family Program at Nevada State Museum: "Bug Detective"

  • Learn the clues that tell you who’s who in the insect world. Kids of all ages are invited to join us in the Education Room on Saturday afternoons from 1 to 5 pm to enjoy hands-on, drop-in activities. Families can explore Nevada topics through demonstrations, activities, and art projects. No registration is required, and programs are free with regular museum admission. 


Willy Wonka - Winchester Headliners at Winchester Cultural Center Theater

  • 1:00pm or 6:00pm
  • $7.00 for afternoon show, $8 for evening show

  • Roald Dahl's “Willy Wonka” follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory or suffer the consequences.

He must fight through his inner torture with his mom, the warden, inmates, his legacy and finally even the devil to find his way. At least he has a girlfriend to help him, but wait, she is just a mannequin. This dark tale is told through music, dance, comedy, a love story, and truly defines the definition of a romantic dark comedy.
