We came to Las Vegas for a convention 3 days after the October 1 shooting that had happened last year. While we were in town for just a few days it was very apparent that Las Vegas was much more than just a tourist destination. I remember driving past the memorial across the street from where the Route 91 event took place. I remember watching the news in our hotel room and seeing how the city of Las Vegas was coming together to help it's community with lines around the block to give blood. It was really moving and showed me just how strong Vegas is. This was an awful tragedy but it brought a community together, stronger than ever. As we honor those lost a year ago in that senseless tragedy we honor the heroes that stepped in to help, first responders and otherwise. I have a new respect today for Las Vegas and it makes me proud to call myself a resident of this city. I saw #VegasStrong a year ago when we were visiting and now living here I can feel it.
