Amazon wants to do in-car delivery to help thwart package theft. Many people have had their packages stolen off their porch and some customers give drivers access to their home (with an app and security camera in place) for added security of their delivery. However, many are not ok with drivers gaining access to their home so perhaps giving access to the trunk of their car is something people may be more comfortable with. It wouldn't cost any more for the service and the drivers just need to know the address of where the car is since they can't ping the location of the car. With remote app access capabilities to many cars now you can give guest access or a temporary code to delivery drivers. They will test it out in 37 cities, including Atlanta, Nashville, Seattle, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City to name a few. Here's more on the story.
