The Best Tips for Throwing a Great Party This Summer

As you’ve seen from your social media feeds from this past weekend, summer party season is here, and people are ready to make up for 2020. But since all of our hosting skills are a bit rusty, here are some tips to help you nail your next shindig.

  • Pregame Your Guests - The party really starts the moment you send out the invites so use them as a way to get your guests pumped. Give the party a name to make it feel like an event, consider setting a dress code or even a color, and make sure whatever house rules and safety guidelines you’re putting in place are noted.
  • Get Your Home Ready - Tidy things up around the house and prep it for a group of folks to go ham in it. Make sure the bathroom is stocked with TP, have a designated spot for cans and trash, and get your party areas all set. If you have places that are off-limits or your house has some interesting quirks, make sure to point them out with some post-its.
  • Put Some Thought Into Your Food Situation - You know how you’re still always thinking about that one dish you had at so-and-so’s party? This is your chance to be that so-and-so to someone else! Lean on your “greatest hits” in the recipe department or support a local restaurant and order in. Your party isn’t the time to be trying out something new.
  • Little Touches Go A Long Way - You don’t need to be a decorative genius to throw a party. Even some well-placed Christmas light on a table could do. Also, it's never a bad idea to hook up the sober folks and all the DDs with a non-alcoholic drink or mocktail.
